Baan Hollanda situated in Ayutthaya province, the old capital city of Thailand, which is approximately 75 km or about one hour drive from Bangkok.

Once you have travelled to the city, make your way to the same direction as Wat Panan Choeng. Our building is just about 300 metres from south of this temple. Baan Hollanda is located right next to the Chao Phraya river, therefore, it is about 100 metres coming from the main road. There will be road signs indicating the directions you can follow.

Baan Hollanda is opened from Wednesdays-Sundays at 09.00 am-16.00pm with no exception of public holidays during such five days.

Coming by public transportation

Minivans from victory monument: This will be the quickest option to travel from Bangkok to Ayutthaya. The vans are parked at Victory Monument in Bangkok which you can easily reach by BTS skytrain. The journey will cost 60 baht per person and will take you directly to the city centre at Chaoprom Market.

From there, you can find various accommondations for your stay. However, if you are only planning to spend a day in Ayutthaya, renting bicycle is also an interesting option to explore around the historical sites as well as coming to Baan Holllanda.

Train to Ayutthaya: If you prefer to travel by train, it is also possible option. You can get off at Ayutthaya train station. From there, you can rent a bicycle or hire your private taxi. Baan Hollanda is just 2.5 km from the train station which will take you only 10 minutes to our building.

How to get there

By Bus

Price: +/- 55 baht.
From Bangkok: Every 30 minutes from 05:00 – 18:00h.
Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours.

Departure from Bangkok, buses leave every 30 min. throughout the day from Mo Chit station to Ayutthaya.

By Car

Take highway number 1 (Phahonyothin Road).
Then take highway number 32 to Ayutthaya.
Follow the signs to the temple ‘Wat Phanan Choeng’.
Baan Hollanda is located on Soi Ksan Rua near the school of Wat Phanan Choeng.
Take the road, named ‘Soi Ksan Rua’. You will see Baan Hollanda on your right.

By Minivan

From Bangkok: Every 30 minutes from 05:00 – 20:00h.

Take a minivan leaving from Bangkok’s BTS Victory Monument to Ayutthaya.

By Train

Price: +/- 15 baht.
From Bangkok: from 04:20 – 22.25h.
Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes.

There is a local train from Bangkok’s main station (Hualamphong Station) to Ayutthaya Train Station roughly every hour. No reservation required.
Baan Hollanda is approximately 2.7 km from Ayutthaya Train Station. To reach Baan Hollanda, you head south on Route 3053. Walk down the road until you reach Route 3477. Turn right towards Route 3477. Baan Hollanda is located near the Chinese temple Wat Panan Choeng and a shipyard.

Opening hours

Baan Hollanda is opened from Wednesdays-Sundays, including public holidays on these five days. Our operating hours are from 09.00 am – 16.00 pm. Please kindly note that we are closed every Mondays -Tuesdays.

Admission fee

Our ground floor is open for free to the public. Everyone is welcomed to stop by and have a seat in our lobby and coffee shop. You can also explore the historical site of the Former Dutch settlement and walk around the area with no ticket requirements.

School and student visits

Baan Hollanda is a great place for students to learn about history in Ayutthaya. From primary school to university students, the history about the Dutch settlement can be explored on different levels and depth. Students can learn the general knowledge about Ayutthaya and what the city was like when it was the capital. In addition, the content can be explored more deeply into the economy, international relations, trade, diplomacy, politic and geography during the time of the early Dutch-Thai relaions in the 17th century.

The permanent exhibition is about 20-40 minutes long, depending on the time you’ll spend on the displayed content. Our exhibition text is showned in both Thai and English. We can also provide you with an exhibition tour for your student groups in both languages. Therefore, students from international schools or bilingual curriculum are most welcomed to visit us. Please let us know your plan when making your booking with us.

The exhibition area can house up to 30 students at a time. For your convenience, we kindly advice you to divide students into smaller groups if you are coming with a large number of students.

Baan Hollanda is located by the Choa Praya river, making it possible for you to access our centre by boat. This creates another option for your trip to Ayutthaya by coming to see us after a boat trip around the city island and study the local scenery along the way. We are only 10 minutes from the south of the island.

Story about the Dutch trade in the 17th century involves the invention of stocks in business world, maritime technology, internatinal relaions, foreign settlements and goods that being exchanged in the Asia. Baan Holland is a unique stop over for all of your programme styles in Ayutthaya. Our exhibition is nicely designed and beautifully displayed. Visitors can not only explore the historical stories of the past, but coming to Baan Hollanda is also a relaxing break from visiting other outdoor sites of the city.

Modernly designed and comprehensive exhibition

The Dutch trade journey in Siam formed the beginning of the over 400 years relations between Thailand-the Netherlands. The long historical tie of the two countries allows us to learn more about Ayutthaya as an international port in the 17th Century. The social aspect of the city, how foreign people once lived and worked and the importance of the traded goods were all knowledge that can be learned by visitors of all nationalities. The content is being displayed beautifully with various types of vitual display nad media, making the story easy to understand and interesting.

The New and the Old

Baan Hollanda allows you to explore the site where the 17th Century trading office of the Dutch East India company used to be. Our new building has the exhibition and the cafe but just outside in our beautiful garden is the foundation where the original building used to located.

After seeing exploring our exhibition and the historical site, you are cordially invited to sit and relax at our cafe on the ground floor. We serve freshly make Dutch coffee, locally made Stroopwafels and other Dutch snacks. Various cold and hot drinks are also available. Making the overall visit, a pleasant and enjoyable one.

Water access is possible

Baan Hollanda is located by the Chao Praya River, making an interesting option for you to arrange a visit by boat which travellers can experience the seneries and lives along the river and temples before reaching Baan Hollanda.
